EUTI offers a single contact point for Ukrainian companies who seek support and cooperation with EU counterparts, and vice versa. That connection will be helpful to match supply and demand (e.g. there are many requests for supplies of fabrics), engage in public procurement, offer company-to-company support.<\/p>\n<p>The service will be coordinated by EURATEX in close cooperation with UKRLEGPROM, Ukrainian Association of enterprises of textile &amp; leather industry. Olena Garkusha, an experienced manager coming from the Ukrainian textile industry and now based in Brussels, will act as contact point.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6740 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ukrlegprom.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/yzobrazhenye_viber_2022-05-12_08-34-22-907.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ukrlegprom.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/yzobrazhenye_viber_2022-05-12_08-34-22-907.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/ukrlegprom.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/yzobrazhenye_viber_2022-05-12_08-34-22-907-768x903.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 204px) 100vw, 204px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EU exports to Ukraine reached \u20ac1.3 bln in 2021 (13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0market), whereas imports from Ukraine reached \u20ac500 mln (21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0place).<\/li>\n<li>There is potential to expand that relationship, both in the short term \u2013 to respond to urgent needs, e.g. in military and medical fabrics \u2013 but also in the longer run; as partner in the PEM Convention, Ukraine can play an important role in Europe\u2019s textile and apparel supply chain.<\/li>\n<li>The proposed suspension of tariffs on imported products from Ukraine by the EU will offer further opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EURATEX Director General Dirk Vantyghem commented:\u00a0<\/strong><em>\u201cSupporting the textile industry is our way to help the people of Ukraine. We encourage our European members to connect via EUTI and develop sustainable partnerships.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tetyana Izovit, President-Chief of the Board of UKRLEGPROM welcomed the initiative:<\/strong> \u201c<em>Today, we have many textile and\u00a0 apparel\u00a0 companies in Ukraine with expertise and skilled workers; they are able and willing to work with EU, but lack the contacts, customers and supplies.
